Singapore Airlines to serve Taiwan route with Boeing 787-10s

2018/10/27

Taipei, Oct. 27 (CNA) Singapore Airlines said earlier this week that it will start serving the Taoyuan-Singapore route with its newly-obtained Boeing 787-10 jets from Jan. 1, 2019, becoming the first carrier to operate that model of aircraft in Taiwan.

The airline said it will use the aircraft for daily round-trip flights SQ876 and SQ877, while its other daily round-trip flights, SQ878 and SQ879, will continue to use Airbus A330 planes.

Flight SQ876 takes off at 8:15 a.m. from Singapore Changi Airport and arrives at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at 1 p.m., while SQ877 departs from Taoyuan at 2:10 p.m. and lands in Singapore at 6:55 p.m.

EVA Air, one of Taiwan's two major international airlines, meanwhile unveiled the country's first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner passenger aircraft earlier this week.

The airline took delivery of the aircraft on Oct. 2, and its maiden flight is expected to take off in early November on EVA Air's Taoyuan-Hong Kong route.

After delivery of its second Dreamliner in November, the aircraft will be used for flights from Taoyuan to Osaka and Tokyo starting in December, EVA Air said.
