Taiwan’s machine tool industry moving toward smartification

Due to the unstoppable trend of Global Industry 4.0, most leading Taiwan machine
tool builders have stepped into the field of smart machinery, making both single
machines and assembly lines smarter.
90% of Taiwan's machine tool industry are small and medium-sized enterprises that are capable of flexible production and quick delivery. They have achieved differentiation by using customized software or human-machine interfaces so as to increase the added value of the machine tool industry.
There are 1,801 machine tool and accessory builders in Taiwan. Up to 90% of the Taiwan machine tool and accessory industry is located in central Taiwan around the city of Taichung. This specialized network of machines, modules and accessories is a flexible and rapid supply chain capable of low transaction costs and short delivery times.
The tight connection from accessory production to machine tool assembly has allowed central Taiwan to become a unique cluster of machine tool industry in the world, offering some of the best solutions for global equipment end-users.
