EVA Air named one of world's top 10 airlines: TripAdvisor

Taipei, April 2 (CNA) EVA Air, one of Taiwan's two leading international carriers, has been named as one of the world's top 10 airlines, according to major Internet travel and restaurant website TripAdvisor Tuesday.

TripAdvisor placed EVA Air third in its Best Airlines in the World 2019 -- Travelers' Choice Awards, which featured the top 10 airlines along with their respective passenger reviews, on its website.

The world's top 10 airlines, in order, are: Singapore Airlines; Qatar Airways; EVA Air; Emirates; Japan Airlines, Southwest Airlines; Azul; Air New Zealand; Jet2.com; and All Nippon Airways, according to the TripAdvisor website.

EVA Air improved by two places in the annual award, which placed the airline in fifth place last year.

Meanwhile, EVA Air was also featured as the best in the categories of Best Business Class and Best Premium Economy, the TripAdvisor website said.

Lin Bou-shiu (林寶水), EVA Air chairman, said this year marks the 30th anniversary of the airline and for the last three decades, EVA Air has insisted on flight safety without compromise while continuously making improvements to the quality of all of their services.

Lin said he is pleased that the efforts of EVA Air's employees have been recognized by travelers all over the world, adding that the pursuit of aviation safety and service is the goal of the airline and the concept of sustainable aviation.

According to a statement issued by TripAdvisor, the award winners were determined based on an algorithm that took into account reviews and ratings submitted by travelers around the world over a 12-month period.

Now in its third year, the awards categories "honor 57 airlines in 91 total awards that provide exceptional value and service across the world," the statement said.

TripAdvisor has accumulated over 730 million reviews and opinions covering approximately 8.1 million accommodations, airlines, experiences and restaurants, the statement said, adding that its TripAdvisor-branded sites are home to 490 million average monthly unique visitors.
