Taipei, April 12 (CNA) The Ministry of Economic Affairs officially inaugurated a Lithuanian products display center in Taipei Tuesday, showcasing snacks and liquor from the Baltic nation.

The Lithuania Products Center, located at Exhibition Hall 1 in the Taipei World Trade Center, features a collection of items including beverages, cooking oil, cookies, breakfast cereals, pasta and dried berries.

Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua (王美花), who attended the opening, described the center's opening as a testament to warming relations between Taiwan and Lithuania.

Trade volume between the two countries reached US$170 million in 2021, 23 percent higher than the previous year, Wang said.

At the event, she said not only are Lithuanian foodstuffs such as chocolates and beer hugely popular among consumers, the Baltic nation is also known for its laser technology, a key industry for the country.

According to the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan's main exports to Lithuania currently consist of integrated circuits (ICs), motor vehicle parts, bicycles, wheelchairs and printed circuit boards. Meanwhile, imports of Lithuanian products to Taiwan include wood, furniture, machinery tools and mineral/chemical fertilizers.
